If you have a library card and are looking for a last-minute vacay this or next month, then this might be the offer that gets your trip across the line.

To celebrate writer and Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck’s 115th birthday, Baron’s Cove hotel in Sag Harbor, New York is offering very special deals.

To honour Steinbeck, who was a Sag Harbor local and Baron’s Cove Hotel regular, the hotel has put together a celebratory package, which gives a special rate to whoever shows their library card.

The Celebrating Steinbeck offer includes deluxe accommodation, continental breakfast and two Jack Rose cocktails (the author’s favourite) for a special rate of $115 (AU$150) instead of$189 (AU$247).

And if you’re staying on Sunday February 26 you get the night of February 27 for free – the author’s actual birthday. 

Other Steinbeck related treats include his favourite dish – pork posole – being served in the dining room throughout February and in theme with the author’s popular book, Travels with Charley: In Search of America based on his road trip with his pup, guests are encouraged to bring their dogs along.
