Going on holiday and staying in a nice hotel is all about treating yourself. You might have a balcony, a couple of bathrobes, perhaps a mini bar and a big fluffy bed to lie in at the end of a long day sightseeing.

There is one way that you can absolutely make sure that your hotel bed is actually clean, and it is much more simple than you might think.

When you arrive at your hotel for the first time, instead of jumping straight onto the bed and making yourself comfortable, pull back the pillows the blankets and doona covers and take a look at your fitted sheets.

One flight attendant who flies around the world and regularly stays in hotel rooms has said that she always looks for one thing when trying to determine if her hotel bed is clean.

“Don’t sleep on hotel sheets that don’t have creases from being folded,” the flight attendant of more than 19 years’ experience said. “Someone slept on them already.”

If you find that there aren’t creases on the bed sheets, immediately contact your hotel reception and express your concern about whether the hotel bed is actually clean.

Any quality hotel will gladly change your bedsheets if a guest has any concerns, so don’t feel that you’re being unreasonable in your request for them being changed.

Hotel cleanliness is incredibly important, but since the cleaners are usually tasked with cleaning multiple rooms each day, mistakes can occur.
