How to jump to the front of the airport taxi rank queue

Jun 05, 2017

After returning from a big trip, there’s nothing better than making your way straight home, jumping in the shower, and have a good lie down. But if only life were that simple!

More often than not, especially if you don’t have someone to pick you up at the airport, you’ll have to wait in the taxi queue with a crowd of other people who have all arrived at the terminal at the same time.

When all you really want to do is get home, and as quick as possible, that line up in the taxi rank can seem to go on forever. Well, luckily, there is a way you can avoid the crowds at the airport taxi rank, and it is incredibly simple.

All you have to do is avoid thinking like everyone else. Simple, right? If everyone arriving at the airport goes to the arrival taxi rank, then you want to do the exact opposite.

That’s right, you want to make your way to the departure taxi rank. Now, this tip is only helpful if you are able to get to the departure section of the airport rather easily.

If it’s a smaller airport, then great, you’re on your way. If not, it’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth the walk or the free shuttle bus. If the line is absolutely ridiculously long, then it just might be.

When you get to the departure zone, keep an eye out for taxis that are dropping passengers off. Simply flash the driver a warm smile and you’ll be on your way quicker than the rest of the crowd can even consider jumping on public transport.
