How to find a secret deck on a cruise

Jun 05, 2017

Whether you come across a secret garden or hear a juicy piece of gossip that wasn’t meant for your ears, there’s nothing quite like stumbling across a secret. And, yes, there are even big secrets to uncover on your cruise ship.

Many cruisers, even regular ones, don’t know that these secret places exist, but they do and if you haven’t heard of them before, then you’re in for a real treat!

For those of us who aren’t in-the-know, there are hidden decks located on many of your favourite cruise ships. They’re usually found at the front of ships and while they are hidden away and out of view, they are open to the public.

What makes them secret is that they are often obscurely located but great for people wanting to get away from the crowds just as eager to get onto the deck and see the horizon off in the distance in front of them.

Not only will you have the perfect view while cruising out of port, it’s a great option if you want to take some photos of the sunset or sunrise without a handful of other people in the frame.

Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas has a wing view area near the solarium that not many people are aware of. So you can have a spa treatment before heading to the private viewing platform for a glimpse of your surroundings.

Carnival Conquest has a secret deck, too, which is accessed at the end of the hallway from the starboard side of the upper deck. Go through the doors and you’ll be one of the only, if not the only, person having a look at the view.
