New Zealanders have been making us laugh with their hilarious ads for years now and this latest offering is no different!
Air New Zealand has just released its new Christmas ad and it’s got everyone giggling along.
The ad stars singer Ronan Keating and young New Zealand actor Julian Dennison who shot to fame this year after starring in ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ with Sam Neill.
Ronan is tasked with recording the Christmas classic ‘Winter Wonderland’ for the airline, but is constantly interrupted by Julian who has suggestions on how to make it more fitting for those of us sweltering through the season down under.
Some of Julian’s suggestions include changing “glistening in the snow” to “glistening on your bros”, because, as he explains, “a lot of people get sweaty down here, it’s really sunny”.
He also tells Ronan, who he keeps calling Roman, to change other parts of the lyrics to “dodging heaps of prickles with your nan” and “gone away is the greeny-brown bird, here to stay are the Jandals” – or what those of you reading in Australia would call thongs.
Within a few hours of being released the video already racked up thousands of comments and shares, with many calling for the song to be released as an official carol.
“Awesome – please release this, about time we had a song that represents a southern hemisphere Xmas!” wrote one fan.
“Once again you are killing it Air NZ an absolute winner love love love it,” said another.
The song also references pavlova, which quickly sparked debate between Aussie and Kiwi viewers.
“They did not invent pavlova, let’s get it right people,” said one Australian.
“There’s no need to fight over this, you can take back Russell Crowe but the Pav, well that’s ours,” replied another cheeky Aussie.
