It’s the few weeks of the year when Japan’s Cherry Blossoms, otherwise known as “sakura” are in full bloom, and the pictures that are trending on Instagram are frankly, amazing.

The cherry blossoms (sakura) usually bloom in the last week of March and the first two weeks of April in Kyoto (roughly between 20 March and 14 April). In an average year, the blooms peak on 1 April.

Right across Japan, the country’s iconic sakura (cherry blossoms) capture the attention of visitors and locals as their beautiful pink flowers blanket the country in soft, colourful splendour.

Enjoy the pictures this morning of the 2016 season.  Have you ever seen the sakura in bloom? Share some of your pictures or tell us about it today.
