It may sound a risky idea but a cinema in Switzerland has insisted they’ll make their movie watching experience more enjoyable by installing double beds instead of traditional seats.

The ‘VIP bedroom’ option launched last week at movie theatre Cinema Pathé in Spreitenbach, with tickets costing 49 francs (AU$70) including food and drink, as opposed to 19.50 francs for the regular tickets.

According to local news outlet 20 Minuten, the beds come equipped with two pillows, sheets, an electronically adjustable headrest and a bedside table. And for optimum comfort, slippers are also available for cinema guests.

Despite what you may already be thinking, the cinema owners told the publication that customers can be assured that the beds are freshly made after every movie screening.

“The hygiene aspect is very important to us,” Venanzio Di Bacco, the cinema’s CEO, said. “The offer is unique in Switzerland. But we tested the concept abroad and had no problems so far.”

Meanwhile, the cinema is also opening up a children’s area that comes equipped with bean bags, a slide and ball pit, and will cost 14.50 francs.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you want to try out these cinema beds?
