Many people prefer to stick to short curls because it adds volume and also does not require that much maintenance compared to long hair.

But if you’re looking for something new, there are heaps of hairstyles that might just knock back a few years and make you look more youthful.

Paul Labrecque of New York City Salons says, “Asymmetrical or less than perfect hair shapes deflect attention away from wrinkles.”

Here are just some of the anti-ageing haircuts you can try…

Short crop
This is a super short version of the pixie cut but with a short fringe lends you a youthful look.

Short layered bob haircut
Dark roots against light hair creates the illusion of density in your hair and choppy waves create more volume.

Textured lopsided bob
The wispy ends of this longer side of the bob creates a unique look and adds volume to your hair.

Long layered pixie cut
Asymmetric cuts always add volume especially when the hair is side parted and more is lifted to one side. Again, choppy layers add chunk to this look.

Pixie cut
This is a combination of the bob and pixie cut but more choppy and fluffy.

 Shorter crop pixie
Just look at the difference this haircut has made. It’s all about creating texture and definition.

Sleek undercut
Some might say that undercuts could be too “out-there” for over-60s but this nana shows that it’s never to late to try this look.

Short side sweep
Isabella Rossellini loves this cut and it does a great job to keep her looking young. It’s also an easy style to keep.

What kind of haircut are you planning to get?

Why show pictures of women who are clearly NOT Over 60. Whilst the styles very well may suit our age bracket it is hard to imagine how they suit my wrinkles.

    • jennifer

I would say most of these women are over 60 of course some apparently aren’t… but these styles are all lovely…..

    • Susan Lightbown

I agree Noeleen Parsons…I am totally over all this “to make you look younger” and then they show a model who is clearly in their 30’s!! Come on get real!!!

      • Cheryl

Yes, I agree. Show us women in their 60s with before & after cuts, not younger women. It defeats the object of the exercise!

    • Nicole Benoit

I was thinking te same, mots of the models are in theirs 30’s.

    • Why do most of these styles look as if the cat chewed it? Doesn’t any hairdresser use a comb anymore?

I agree with the above comment, plus not everyone suits short hair, I am a bigger woman & i feel I’d look like I’d have a small head & a big body so i wear my hair about shoulder length , I’m 65 & I don’t feel my longer hair makes me look older.

    • Pippa

I too am a large lady but had my medium hair length cut short as…the complimentary comments I have had since I got it cut have boosted my self-esteem and I feel like a different person…I look younger and it has actually inspired me to lose weight by going for walks….too many bonuses to ever regret having a short cut!

I have very fine hair and find it hard to give it a boost I am trying to grow it now to give it some length

    • Jenny

I have very fine hair and thinning. I let it grow to one length then had the under cut at back. To give it body after washing it I brush it all over my face and then blow dry it. It becomes quite bouncy and certainly looks thicker.

    • Sue Turnbull

Absolutely, mines the same. I fluff it up before I go out and its flat by the time I get anywhere. At 64 it aint going to change now

  6. Karen Bruce

I have long hair to my waist which is thick. My hair would go hoof if it was short.

  8. Sue forman

I think they would all be high maintenance styles and all short and very ageing

  9. sue

All short hair, what does that say? How old was the stylist who did this?

  10. Margaret

All looks beautiful till you have to style it yourself next morning. Need a built In hairdresser

  11. Cathy

I agree with the comments about young models being used here. It’s sort of insulting.
My hair is very fine and thin, and my hairline is receding. : ( It always looks sloppy cause I have little frizzies all over.
But I need something that doesn’t require styling and product (i.e., for height), due to my lifestyle. Also, when it’s hot my bangs get wet and pulled back (so they don’t end up flat against my forehead).

Love my super short hair so easy and always get compliments just love it
