A common sign of ageing is sagging skin due to the loss of your skin’s elasticity. The skin around your eyes, including your eyelids, can be especially prone to loosening and drooping with age, because the skin in this area is very thin.

Everyone ages differently so doing makeup for mature eyes can sometimes be a bit difficult. First let’s talk about hooded eyes. As we age, sometimes our eyes tend to sink back slightly and we get a bit of a hood over the eye.

Here we’re going to want to focus on highlighting and contouring. Some people who have hooded eyes, avoid wearing eye shadow because they feel that the effort is not worth it seeing that the beautiful colours would be hidden behind the folds. According to professional makeup blogger, Lisa Eldridge, the right technique can actually help you achieve the look that you want.

Having hooded eyes is completely natural and it’s not a bad thing. It just requires a slightly different technique to make the best use of the colours.

According to Eldridge, eye shadow needs to be applied slightly higher than your normal crease to create the illusion of a higher one so that it would be visible when your eyes are open. You should also check your eye shadow with your eye open and look at how much more you need to add.Eldridge also says that you shouldn’t go too high with the eye shadow as you will need to still highlight your brow bone for that contoured look.
