Dukkah is so much cheaper to prepare at home than it is to buy. The secret lies in buying your ingredients in bulk at the local Indian supply store and keeping them in the cupboard long term, rather than buying the expensive spices in small quantities from your supermarket. Spices like cumin and coriander seed can often be bought in 250-500g bags for just a few dollars. And, as the ingredients last a long time, you can have this one up yor sleeve for surprise visitors and whip it out at short notice.
We absolutely love cooking this exquisite recipe in our house – the smells are just amazing as you prepare it! Toast the spices just before your visitors arrive and you’ll have them swooning on entry.
And serve it with fresh turkish bread, roti or sourdough.
It’s beautiful on crusty bread for your next dinner party, or even for a treat just for a couple.
