The two horse polly race begins… 7

Tony Abbott has announced the kick off of the Liberal Election Campaign tonight, despite Labour having campaigned unstoppably for over five months.

Yes, that’s right, if you remember, Julia Gillard threw us into this prolonged election mess on January 30th this year.  And now, on July 14th, finally, the Liberal party is stepping up from their almost complete silence and announcing what they stand for.

It couldn’t come soon enough for many who hope the election will be called for a date that is sooner than the scheduled September 14.  Apparently Coalition campaign materials will start gracing our television sets tonight, no doubt during the screening of popular shows like Sixty Minutes.

They kick off with two television advertisements, both with the tag line

“What does the future of this country look like if this government is re-elected?”

One of the advertisements will directly attack the track record of Kevin Rudd and the other will lay out a plan called “Real Solutions”…

But, putting political parties and beliefs aside, what policies do you think are important in this election…  What would the “real solutions” be if you were to propose them?

Lets discuss policy without insulting each other’s political views…

  1. Great Liberal Party ad! Just a reminder of the truth ie Labor has never been able to manage our economy and have not only thrown us into enormous debt, but have lost the very healthy surplus that they inherited from the previous Liberal Government. Re-instating Rudd as leader of the Labor Party in the run up to the next election is just a last ditch desperate attempt to hold power. Kevin Rudd has just been making a lot of wild promises that he and his Labor Government know full well that they can’t possibly pay for! He’s also demonstrated just how fickle he is by recently changing his mind on several policies, just to buy votes! Does he really think that the Australian people are foolish blind idiots and are that easily bought? The sooner that this election is called and the sooner that we can get decent financial and social managers in charge, the better!

  2. Not funny Jan….. Just remember that the present Govt. also saved us from many of the economic woes much of the rest of world had and have initiatives for future generations which the LNP seem reluctant to implement. Education and environment anyone? Though I don’t much care for Kevin Rudd I have had the misfortune to meet Tony Abbott many years ago and found him to be a creepy sleaze who made my skin crawl when he touched my hand. Why haven’t the LIbs seen sense and brought back Malcolm Turnbull who only lost by one lousy vote if they are serious about winning the election? Anyway who cares I’m off to live overseas so won’t have to put up with any govt. though I must admit Labor is preferable to the LNP regarding the future of my grandchildren….

  3. I like the valuable information you provide in your articles.
I’ll bookmark your blog and check again here regularly. I am quite sure I’ll learn a lot of new stuff right here!
Best of luck for the next!

  4. I wouldlike to see the original illegal immigration solution brought back. ( the one that RUDD and the labor party along with the greens dismantled.) I would also like to see the carbon tax scrapped (again labor and greens) Less money to overseas countries and more to our pensioners and disabled. Much less spending promises of money we dont have and much better fiscal policy that addresses the problems of our own country. I know it sounds mean but the more illegal immigrants (and that is what they are) that are allowed in the harder it will be for Austraians to get jobs. The higher the taxes (under labor and greens) the lower our standard of living, except for the politicians that is, their standards just keep going up. Yes Rudd is on a comeback, but dont forget what a rotten PM he was previously. It is only that Gillard was so much worse and despised by the majority of the people that Rudd is now looking so good. He is still leader of the party that brought us to this sorry mess we are in . The leaders may change, the party politics remain the same.

    • Do you think that Australia can ward off the seething hoards of refugees that are swarming all over the planet….just because we are an island…..honestly you are dreaming….take a look at the rest of the world that we are attached too….it is inevitable that we who have so much will be forced to share weith the have nots.

No easy solution but quality of life will go down…get used to it….it is the product of over-population and the planet is over populated…cannot feed its mouths. This dilemma has been settled in the past with a major reduction of population by War… easy solution

  5. My only comment is exactly what Rob has said. I agree wholeheartedly.

  6. My first priority would be Stop the boats . SINK them they are an invading force and what should we do with invaders . Stop them with lethal force if necesary . If the governmant anounced that hey were going to sink the boats then carried out their threat . the might have to sink 2 to show they were fair dinkum after that no more would come .
