My once-in-a-lifetime visit to Disneyland

I went to California with my wonderful daughter her husband and their two little girls. As I live on my own it is so special to be able to travel with my family. The flight to Los Angeles is 13 hours directly from Brisbane but it passed by in a flash. Then we hired a car/minivan and drop to Anaheim or should I say my daughter drove. The deal was that I would share a room with the girls except for our first stop in Anaheim where we had a three-bedroom town house. We found this online with an organisation called Home Away. It was really good value and very close to Disneyland. They provided everything and gave us a welcome basket filled with goodies to welcome us there.

The grandchildren’s bedroom was so bright and cheery and they provided toys and dress up to keep the children busy and happy. Altogether a wonderful place to stay.

I have dreamed for years about going to Disneyland but wanted to do this with children so this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The girls had such a wonderful time and their joy was overwhelming. The greatest thing about Disney for these two little girls was meeting all the characters and I was so impressed with the quality of everything we saw and did.

The rides were fabulous but I only went on the ones I felt I could manage as some of the roller coasters and bigger rides were not my cup of tea (we did go on the very famous teacup ride) and too many to mention. We spent three full days at Disneyland and we certainly didn’t see everything but to do it all would take weeks. The quality of everything was spectacular and overall it was an experience to remember. The only big issue for me was all the walking as we walked up to 10km each day and my dickey knees were a bit of a problem but for those who are not as vain as I am you can hire scooters and ride around the park. We went on from here to San Diego and beyond but this will have to be another story.
