In a perfect world

Jul 28, 2015

In a perfect world I would make an appointment at the doctors and when I get there would go straight in. In my world I make an appointment then have to wait two hours.

In a perfect world my grey hairs would grow at the same rate as the rest of my hair and be the same texture. In my world it seems they grow quicker and are course and curly. I often think they look like pubes around my hairline.

In a perfect world there would be no starvation or illness or third world countries. In my world I am made to feel guilty that I have food on the table.

In a perfect world any income whether it be from wages or pension would stretch to enable one to live comfortably. In my world any excess and suddenly the hot water fails, the printer gives up the ghost, the computer dies etc. You know what I mean.

In a perfect world public transport would run on time. In my world my bus is late so I miss the train and have to wait for an hour for another.

In a perfect world a full night’s sleep would mean that. In my world my head is busy with the day when it hits the pillow so it can be a couple of hours before I drop off, only to be woken for a trip to the loo, once, twice sometime three times during the night.

In a perfect world our children and grandchildren would live in the same street as us, not scattered all through the country and world.

In a perfect world the aches and pains and stiffness of arthritis would be cured instantly by an amazing new development. Same with lack of bone density and all the other afflictions we suffer.

In a perfect world, all the people who brag about being perfect and having perfect family, friends etc would be truthful.

In a perfect world there would be no age discrimination in the workplace. In the real world you are often treated like your brain no longer works.

In a perfect world when they predict rain, it rains and when they say it will be sunny it is. When they say it will be sunny in my world it rains so I get wet. Or the washing does.

In a perfect world there would be fewer chiefs and more Indians. In my world everyone seems to want to be boss.

In a perfect world words would not fail us. Gone are the days of a quick comeback in my world.

In a perfect world the things we start would get completed. Need I say more?

In a perfect world I would be able to google something and it would come straight up instead of having to go through a lot of unrelated stuff.

In a perfect world the arts would be given equal status with sport.

In a perfect world if they say it will only take 5 minutes to complete a questionnaire it takes five minutes, not half an hour. I must be a slow reader.

In a perfect world a walking track that is marked as easy and will take an hour should not have steep inclines and take 3 hours so that people are wondering if they will have to camp the night.

I just go on and on, don’t I? Perhaps the perfect world would be when people don’t continually complain about how imperfect our world is.
