Why don’t the Islamic Religious leaders stop this?

Yesterday saw horrible atrocity in the western world.  Hundreds of people died in a city that looks not-dissimilar to our own cities here in Australia and New Zealand.

It is a problem that has been growing in significance since 2013 and one which the world is shaking its head.  The question we have to ask is “Why are the moderate leaders of the Islamic faith not putting a stop to this?”

People all over the world have been dying at the hands of islamic militants for a nearly two years now, in Syria, Iraq and in terror attacks on cities like Sydney and Paris and their attacks on western society appear to be deepening, and becoming more extreme putting at risk the western people’s respect for moderate Islamic followers, and assuming that anyone who believes might have significant risk of association to extremeism.  It is a horrible generalisation, but one which people in times of fear can’t help but carry in a country like Australia.

The Islamic State pledges itself as a religion led organisation, governed by Islamic Law, or Sharia Law and demands that Muslims across the world swear allegiance to its leader – Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Badri al-Samarrai, better known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – and migrate to territory under its control.

IS has told other jihadist groups worldwide that they must accept its supreme authority. Many already have, among them several offshoots of the rival al-Qaeda network.

IS seeks to eradicate obstacles to restoring God’s rule on Earth and to defend the Muslim community, or umma, against infidels and apostates.

The group believes that the atrocities it is involved in represent end-of-times showdown between Muslims and their enemies described in Islamic apocalyptic prophecies.

In our own countries, if the Catholics or the Protestants behaved outside of our moderate religious platforms they would be disciplined and called into line.

So why, we have to ask are the moderate and long-term leaders of this religion not calling a stop to the extremists?
