What Donald Trump wants to do on his first day as president

Now the world is settling into the idea of a Donald Trump presidency, we’re starting to get some ideas on what it will look like.

The president-elect has released a video detailing his plans for his first 100 days as president of the United States

In the video he lists what he will do on day one.

So, what will Trump do?

Well, while there’s no talk of walls or repealing ObamaCare, many of his plans are what he campaigned on.

“My agenda will be based on a simple core principle – putting America first,” he said.

“Whether it’s producing steel, building cars or curing disease, I want the next generation of production and innovation to happen right here on our great homeland America creating wealth and jobs for American workers.

“As part of this plan I’ve asked my transition team to develop a list of executive actions we can take on day one to restore our laws and bring back our jobs – it’s about time.”

Among the plans is withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which Trump described as “a potential disaster” for the US.

Instead, he plans to negotiate “fair bilateral trade deals” that will “bring jobs and industry back onto American shores”.

He also plans to cancel restrictions of energy production, including the shale and clean coal industries.

According to Trump, doing so will create “many millions of high paying jobs”.

“That’s what we want, that’s what we’ve been waiting for,” he said.

The president-elect will also introduce a rule that for every new regulation, two old regulations must be eliminated.

He will also ask the Department of Defence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to develop a comprehensive plan to protect America’s vital infrastructure from “cyber attacks and all other form of attacks”.

What about immigration?

Well, Trump says he will direct the Department of Labour to investigate abuses of visa programs “that undercut the American worker”.

And as for draining the swamp, well the president-elect will impose a five-year ban on “executive officials becoming lobbyists after they leave the administration” and a life ban on “executive officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government”.

“These are just a few of the steps we will take to reform Washington and rebuild our middle class,” Trump said.
