Question Time today saw Aussie parliament sink to all kinds of new lows! 270

One would think that a federal budget has the potential to cause quite a stir – which is does. However, we weren’t prepared for the onslaught that seems to have occurred during Question Time today!

Looking at Twitter it seems as though everyone went a little mad and it looks like Madam Speaker, Bronwyn Bishop, and Labor deputy leader Tanya Plibersek went head to head. It seems as though there was some heavy pushing between Labor and Liberal leaders over the budget that called upon Madam Speaker to settle the room down – however it seems as though Labor leaders came back at Ms Bishop about her bias and frankly, her relevance to Australian politics entirely.

Some of the statements made by the journos on twitter lead us to believe that this is one giant fracas and either goes to show just how pathetic our pollies are or just how derogatory our media area…

Take a look at the below tweets and tell us, does this look like a giant display of poor behaviour? Share your thoughts in the comments below…

  1. Bronwyn Bishop is is disliked because she is not fair or impartial, they should have put an Independent in the job and avoided all of this

  2. the parliament would function better if the speaker was seen to be a bit more neutral, the bias is very obvious, today was a great example, the pm had to be asked several times to withdraw an unparliamentary comment,he knows the speaker is an allie, and takes advantage of it

  3. I know we are all over 60, but I seriously think Bishop is to old and set in her ways, she could have been a good speaker, she has the knowledge but she does not have the impartiality or wisdom to do the job properly

    • She has shown bias since Day 1 as Speaker. Has she not realised that as Speaker, she is supposed to be impartial. As you say Dorothy, she is a joke big time.

    • Seems people on here didn’t watch Anna Burke very often, she had libs going out often & every day. Screamed like a fishwife . Trouble is Tanya & Co don’t know HOW to ask a question, as they have never been in opposition, Bronwyn Bishop is a stickler for correct procedure. C King & T Plibersek are forever being told that is argument, please rephrase it, she has 4 or 5 attempts sometimes & still can’t get it right, If when Labor make “smart” remarks the whole Left side didn’t erupt in fits of yelling & laughing they might have a chance. The senior members , the good ones , who knew how to act have all retired and left this rabble behind.

    • Oh here goes Dawn Bruce again with her selective memory… talk about bias… she and Bronwyn Bishop make a good pair don’t they. How pathetic….

    • The last speaker before Bishop was Peter Slipper and he was a Liberal before he was appointed to the job.. Anna Burke was an angel compared to Bishop

    • Dawn Bruce really you must have been 6ft under for the last 18months. You have no idea what your talking about. You need to go back 6ft under and stay there. Take it from me Julie Bishop is a biased old speaker.

    • Bronwyn Bishop is at least dignified, but is battling uphill to get some of those labor women to follow suit. I’ve noticed how many young women can’t control themselves, nowadays. Temper tantrums seem to rule, which means that I don’t concentrate on what they’re trying to get across. Media often goes feral, these days, too. Disgraceful!

  6. She is not the right person for this job, it should be an independent. She is too one sided and it really is blatantly obvious.
