New portrait of William and Kate revealed in anniversary thank you cards

The art of letter writing seems all but lost in a world of digital technology and impersonalised greetings but it seems the young Royal couple are still fond of it.

This week the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sent out personalised thank you cards and letters to those who congratulated them on five years happily married. Included in the card envelope was also a new photo of the smiling couple – both look blissful and in love.

The image of the couple, which appears to have been taken in the gardens at Kensington Palace was shot by Chris Jelf, who also photographed the royals with their children for the family Christmas card, reports the Daily Mail.

The new image was revealed on Twitter by royal photographer Paul Ratcliffe, showing the message inside which read:

‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did on the occasion of their 5th Wedding Anniversary,’ the card read.

‘It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.’

Their message is actually quite similar to one the royal couple wrote to people who congratulated Kate on the birth of Prince George.

‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were touched by your kind words following the wonderful news that they are expecting their first baby,’ it read.

‘It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses send their warmest thanks and best wishes.’

The Royal couple were married on April 29, 2011.
