Is Kate our modern-day Wonder Woman? 12

If the Duchess of Cambridge was a super hero, she would definitely be Wonder Woman and I don’t mean this with reference to her physique and long flowing brunette hair.

How amazing was Kate at the weekend?

Within two hours of going into labour on Saturday evening Australian time she had delivered the Princess of Cambridge, and by Sunday morning our time she’d taken her beautiful daughter home from hospital – not before appearing on the steps of St Mary’s Hospital in London, resplendent in a yellow and white floral dress with babe in arms to introduce the Princess to the world.

When I turned on the television on Sunday morning, I had expected to see a beaming Prince William telling the world’s media about the exciting arrival of his daughter. Instead, I got the whole package including the gorgeous Prince George visiting hospital to meet his baby sister and the little Princess in her baby capsule carried by her dad and put in the Range Rover car to head home to Kensington Palace.

Wow! All this within around 12 hours and the only thing left to do was give the little cherub a name. Impressive!

No doubt Kate had plenty of help including a hairdresser on standby with curling wand in hand to fulfill her own Royal duties. Yet despite the entourage of assistants, what great pressure the Duchess of Cambridge was under.

At a cost of more than six thousand pounds per night, Kate could easily have afforded to stay a few more nights in the Hospital’s Lindo Wing to settle in to being the mother of a newborn again and bond with her baby. The question is, did she really have a choice? Had Kate not left hospital when she did, the media would still be camped outside waiting for the first appearance of the new Princess. So why not get it over with? Face the throng of photographers, give them what they want and get home to privacy to start life as a happy family of four.

Kate probably didn’t set a precedent – plenty of new mums in Australian hospitals barely stay one night before they’re discharged from hospital to make way for another incoming maternity patient. However, they get to go home without the glare of the world’s media spotlight!

I’m not sure I could have done what the Duchess of Cambridge did. After giving birth, I’d take the five-day hospital stay complete with nursing staff, nutritious meals and baby nursery on standby.

Whatever her personal reasons for leaving hospital within hours of delivering her baby, Kate’s achievement could best be described as Wonder Woman-esque.

Would you agree? Is the Duchess of Cambridge our modern-day Wonder Woman?

  1. It’s not as if she had to go home & cook & clean and look after a toddler. I was bouncing with energy & adrenaline after I had my 2nd as he was born in 59 minutes.

  2. She is a very special Lady and I just love her, I did not have any problems after the birth of my four, I went home a couple of days later. I spent 7 month of nine month in hospital with my third but after he was born it was heaven.

  3. Wonder Woman!? Be real.
When we stop looking to others for our own salvation, we will all be better off and far happier.
Kate is a woman who had a baby like many other women who go unacknowledged.
The reality is, that Kate and William, Harry and the Danes, are all laying foundations based on playing on our emotions, in hope of securing leadership and governing Australia, should we ever vote on Independence (and lose what little pseudo-independence that we think we have).
In all my years, the Crown (like Abbott and co) has NEVER ‘come to the party’, has never helped any Australian I have ever known.
No. Kate is not OUR ‘Modern-day Wonder Woman’. Every Mother in Australia, every Mother in the world, is the Modern-day Wonder Woman’.
Look to yourselves, Mothers, Women everywhere, and know you are greatly valued.

    • Isir Sorry my previous postings went off in mistake did not finish comment. As an expat , I left UK 11 years ago to live in Sydney, have never fully understood all the fuss and obsession with the Royal Family, these people should get a life . To this day I still do not understand why I joined the throngs of grieving people outside the Palace after Diana’s tragic death ,we all seemed to be in a hypnotic trance. Perhaps the Duchess of Cambridge was advised to leave on the day of the New Beautiful Baby Girl’s Birth. asThe Media Circus and people camping outside was getting ridiculous . I had my second baby 45 years ago at 26 ,4 years after my first, as and was delivered at home.Just the Midwife and myself, whilst my husband ( now ex- sat downstairs watching Football!!) It was all very natural and quick. The only people who saw me and the new baby within 2 hours of giving birth were My Dear Mother and older daughter. How awful to have to be seen by the world and its wife so soon after giving birth. Kate has all the privileges and help in her a Royal lifestyle. so I don’t think she earns the title of a modern day Wonder Woman.

  5. Come off it . A million other women had babes that day as well, many will not have had the care and comfort she had ,few will be going home to house with built in cooks and nannies etc having to do al themselves so if your looking for wonder women don’t look for them in the world of privelidge

  6. So what!? _ Women give birth everyday – but not usually with the privileges this woman has. Unfortunately she’ll probably get the same treatment that Diana was subjected to – she’s been used as a brood mare & can now be discarded so the prince can go forward with another woman with royal heritage to continue his life. Royals? – not worth our tax paying money or time of day. Bear in mind the English royals are from German descent – their surname was only changed to Windsor because of an outcry from the ENGLISH people.
The whole lot of them are corrupt – Prince Phillip is a total joke who has embarrassed on every foreign trip – also a known whoring womanizer, Princes Charles & Andrew certainly take after him. Whilst Prince Edward may have married & produced an heir ( finally) but isn’t quite a man is he – more a man who prefers men. Princess Anne – well ” neigh ” to mention there – just saddle her up & canter into the sunset.
What a joke they all are. Hearing & watching their everyday antics is almost on par with watching Coronation Street & Eastenders – except with these soapies you do know that it isn’t real life , whereas with these “monarchy” people it is real life – much of it to the deterimate to the rest of us who pay for their lavish lifestyles.

  7. Very lovely but in this day and age it is the done thing to leave the hospital almost immediately after giving birth.

  8. I had my second baby girl in less than half in 10 an hour, I went home as well after 10 hours, no stiches and she weighed 8lbs

  10. I’m very saddened by some of the comments that appear in our over 60 posts. Such nasty people – if they have nothing good to say keep it to themselves. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but there seems to be very unhappy people with chips on their shoulders – very sad.
