Helen looks a bit ‘mother of the bride’ – what do you think? Hit or miss

Helen Mirren usually makes the headlines for her excellent dress sense, but one of her latest two appearances has left some fashion watchers thinking she looked a little mother of the bride. Hit or miss? What do you think? We’re not sure.

The 70-year-old actress rocked it in an elegant black dress for the BFI London Film Festival photocall for her new movie Trumbo with co-stars Bryan Cranston and John Goodman. No problems there – stunning in anyone’s book.

However, she chose a pale-pink button-up A-line dress for the screening of Trumbo.

The Daily Mail, reports the actress teamed it up with a matching pink fascinator, sparkling silver clutch and a pair of fierce pink heels with diamante straps.

That newspaper liked the ensemble, but we’re not so sure. For us, it had a slight “mother-of-the bride” feeling about it.

Directed by Jay Roach, Trumbo also stars Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston as Oscar-winning Hollywood film-maker Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted for his political beliefs in communism in 1947.

Helen plays the role of gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.
