There’s a world of angry customers aiming shots at Australia Post for poor service, poor delivery, and a complete lack of care and today we have to ask if anyone is listening? Their social media pages are without comment, their phone lines take too long to get through on, and their counter-staff are answer-less.

The Australia Post Facebook page is filled with angry and unhappy complaints most of which have no responses at all in recent days other than from other angry consumers replying to each other and feeling each others’ pain. Customers are crying out for help on non-delivery and being forced to wait on the phone for 55 minutes just to find that the person at the call centre doesn’t or cannot care. And postmen are just getting angrier, slapping parcels down and not ringing or knocking as they arrive. Disabled people are not surprisingly frustrated that posties leave slips in the letterbox when they have been home all day waiting for the mail.

Consumers want to know what they are paying for in a mailing service and why they should put up with such disappointment from our mailmen and post offices time and time again.  Is it right to expect a good quality service considering our taxes are paying for the wages, the infrastructure and the losses the operation makes?

News.com.au has written an article about them in the last 24 hours that put even more pressure on them than the consumer already was, and it leaves us asking what on earth our taxpayer monies are doing there to serve us?

Surely, as service business we should be able to expect “service delivery standards” of a reasonable nature, with pleasant, trained delivery staff doing their job with dignity and concern for their customer and their owner given they are the same person?

News.com pointed that the CEO Ahmed Fahour earns a $2.1 million salary borne from taxpayer monies. Seems a crude price to pay for a service that rarely is as it could be.

  1. Don’t get me started on Australia post I’ve lost count of the mail that has been posted but just vanished. How about this a letter from.New Zealand took eleven days could have swam quicker than that.

  2. Never had an issue until they installed their $7 mil a year so called manager. If anyone else as a manager did that they would soon be shown the door.

    • It was reported some time ago, the 2 million bonus was donated to the Islamic Museum in Melbourne which the CEO’s family run. Which means the $2 mil was tax free.

      • The CEO OF Australia Post is paid a seemingly extraordinary salary, but if you think that an issue, take it up with the relevant minister who signed off on it. As for his tax free contributions to charitable/religious organisations: nothing to do with anyone. It’s his money to donate (or not) as he wishes, just as you and I might donate (tax free) to the Salvo’s or World Vision. Stay focused on the issue.

  4. Made an official complaint about receiving letters for the neighbourhood. They took months to send a response and echo orated themselves. Don’t use them now do most online including Christmas cards. As for the ceo’s pay, what can we expect, they get it no matter what! Stuff them all

    • Filled out formal complaint form months ago, still have not heard back, some problems arising time and time again, go into our local branch but they are not interested, but I will continue to go in and let them know how unhappy we, they will get sick of me for sure.

  5. Not as many people write letters these days. But i would have thought all the parcels that were being posted from on line shopping would have made up for the shortage of house hold mail.

    • Not necessarily Sue, a lot of my purchases are delivered by courier which I’m so grateful for because my purchases delivered by Australia post takes 2-4 days longer, it’s not good enough.

    • Fair enough Trish. I don’t write letters myself and not too sure then on how online purchases are sent. So i suppose given all the facts it’s no wonder Australia Post is going down the gurgler. Putting the prices up for postage wouldn’t help either.

    • Yes some places use couriers but the vast majority use post, they’re definitely gouging us, there’s something very wrong in Australia Post!

    • Not all parcels from online shops go Australia Post but you are right know someone who works at a sorting hub and they are kept very busy with parcels but do remember only parcels small enough to fit through a letter box slot go with the postman.

    • Australia Post has a parcel division which the government bought, Star Trak and this is the profitable side of the business, it more than compensates for the losses on the letter delivery, in fact provided the government with a tidy profit. I receive bulky and heavy items through Australia Post.

  7. I have given up complaining…cancelled any subscriptions I had and made an oath to not use the useless fools. I do miss the hot delivery driver though.

  8. 6 days for a regular letter to get from Blue Mountains to Macquarie Fields in Sydney…and paid for express post from Blue Mountains to Townsville, it still took a week !!

  9. I don’t have too ma y complaints about the service in this area, but why does any CEO need salaries in the millions? There should be a cap of $100 thousand on CEO salaries. Societies break down when those in power take more than their fair share of resources.
