Dear Daddy: the letter from an unborn girl to her father that every man needs to see

Have you ever tried to explain to a man what it’s like to be a woman? It’s almost impossible to put into words the unspoken assumptions and casual slights that chip away at even the most confident little girl, the constant battle of being female in a man’s world from an early age, and the dangers of being the fairer sex.

This public safety announcement from Norway is going viral because, for the first time, someone has put all this into words – and in such a clever way.

In the clip, which below you can watch below, an unborn girl pleads with her father to protect her from sexual violence. “I know you will protect me from lions, tigers, guns, cars or even sushi without even thinking about the danger to your own life. But dear Daddy, I will be born a girl. Please do everything you can so that won’t stay the greatest danger of all.”

According to WHO, one in three women in the world will experience physical or sexual violence in their lives, most often from a male partner.
