Harnessing the power of change

Nov 19, 2015

How are you feeling right now? Are you feeling on top of the world? Are you feeling unstoppable? Do you feel like you have all of your ducks in a row? Are you enjoying all the hard work you have put into your business over the years?

I’m not trying to put you on a downer, if you aren’t feeling some or all of these things. Being in business can be tough for any business owner, especially if you’re over 50 feeling tired, worn out and ‘over it’.

Life changes as you get older, your priorities change. Your business may have excited you a few years ago and hopefully it still does. However at the moment, it may feel like a burden and you could be questioning….what am I doing?

Some baby boomers absolutely love what they do and have no intention of winding down from their business and there are others who remain stuck on a treadmill. Keeping busy and going nowhere fast. The treadmill is fraught with negativity, frustration, and often despair. You might even be experiencing some of these feelings right now.

So how can you harness the power of change to ensure that you and your business not only just survives but thrives? And, most importantly, you as a person has the time, energy and motivation to produce the outcomes you really desire.  Like regaining your mojo, enjoying life more and feeling on purpose?

Business owners over 50 who are constantly learning, growing and taking action can easily adapt to change and have a much more fulfilling life when they are organised, have clarity, purpose and direction. They can handle life so much better and attend to the areas that really matter.  As a small business owner you will find that your business is a reflection of you.

Your mindset is critical to your experiences…good or bad. Personal organisation is also a key success factor.  Being able to manage your time, your systems, your people and your life will ensure your business runs much more effectively and profitably.

Let’s do a quick stocktake:

1. Where is your business at right now? Do you find yourself with the same frustrations and issues as you had at this time last year? Do you love being in your business or is it wearing you out?

2.  Where is your life at right now? Do you find yourself with the same frustrations and issues in your personal life as you had at this time last year?

3. Do you want help to move out of this Ground Hog Day situation you find yourself in?
Keeping busy and trying to ‘snap out of it’ will only prolong the real sh*t hitting the fan at some point. Unfortunately by then, it may be too late!

If you’ve been able to honestly answer these questions, and you are unsure of how reaching out for help will benefit you, I want you to imagine chilling out over Xmas/New Year period. Ideally you’ll be resting, relaxing and resetting for the year ahead…but what will you be thinking about during that time? Will your mind be at ease knowing that you have got your act together, you know where you’re heading in the new year and excited with anticipation of a great year ahead, or will you be awake at 2am each morning wondering where on earth you are going in your business and life, fearful about what the future may hold?

It’s up to you! We all know that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. Is that what you are doing? Are you driving yourself insane? Are you trying to work everything out yourself and getting nowhere?

You can experience a happier, healthier and more prosperous future much sooner than you think, but you have to take the first step. And if you’re over 50, now is not the time to procrastinate, it’s time to make the most of life.
