Bride continues a beautiful family tradition

How is this for special? Sarah, her mother and her grandmother all wore the same dress on their wedding day.

Sarah’s soon-to-be husband Jonathan joked that she was so much like her mum and grandma and was not surprised when she suggested they wed on the same day they did. This close knit family even decided to carry on the tradition of wearing the exact same dress as well as getting married on the exact same day of the year as both her mum and grandma.

“Jonathan, my husband, often says that I’m like my mum and granny. We’re all very close-knit and house-proud, keeping generations-old family traditions alive in a modern world. So when Jon and I planned our wedding, we chose the same date as my mum’s and granny’s weddings,” Sarah said.

She had not planned on wearing the dress until her mother mentioned she had it in storage. “She brought it down for me to look at, with no obligation to wear it if I didn’t want to.”

But after trying it on she knew it was the one! “As soon as I put it on and held the veil onto the back of my head, I knew that I wouldn’t be trying on any other dresses. It fit perfectly, and Mum looked so happy when she saw me in it. I was sure the dress would bring me a lifelong and happy marriage, like my grandmother and my mother before me.”

Her family were supportive of the decision “the family thought it was a lovely idea and full of sentiment,” she said. And so the tradition was continued. Watch this heartwarming video to see the beautiful photos of three generations in the same dress.

We wonder if it will continue, or even be in fashion, when it’s the next generations turn to wed.
