BREAKING: Ted Cruz pulls out of US presidential race 5

The way has all but been paved for Donald Trump’s White House bid, as Ted Cruz has bowed out of the United States Republican presidential race.

Cruz suffered crushing defeat to Donald Trump in the key seat of Indiana.

It’s a sad turn of events with Cruz previously insisting that he would remain a candidate until June 7, attacking his rival during a news conference as a ‘pathological liar’ who is unfit for the White House.

Cruz’s attempts to trump Trump were unsuccessful; his strategy has largely been based on a notion that ultimately Trump’s campaign would implode. It hasn’t.

In recent weeks he has faced a series of awkward moments. First it was forging an alliance with Ohio governor John Kasich that quickly crumbled. Then he named Carly Fiorina as his running mate, which was seen a premature given how far out he was from winning the nomination. He has also been ridiculed for referring to a basketball hoop as a ‘ring’.

“I’m sorry to say it appears that path has been foreclosed,” Cruz says.

“Together we left it all on the field in Indiana… the voters chose another path. And so, with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism, for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign. But hear me now, I am not suspending our fight for liberty.”

With Donald Trump winning the majority of delegates out of Indiana, he is on track to reach 1,237 delegates required by the end of voting in June.

For now he will be the Republican’s presumptive nominee.

  1. I dare not use the words I have to describe him in case I get banned from this site. God help America if he becomes President, and God help the rest of the world as well. We have the dipstick in North Korea to worry about and having Trump in USA ready to take on anyone, is enough to terrify me.

    • Try to be honest and tell me that Trump is going to be any worse than Obama and I bet the people of America as have the statistics shown will say no way could anyone be as bad as Obama.

  2. According to reports out of the USA, Cruz was, in his own way, as big a nightmare as Trump. A Right Wing bigot, Cruz was behind most of the anti abortion legislation, “bathroom” laws and other edicts designed to put women in their place. Trump of course is a nightmare all on his own. If this man becomes president, not only will the America people be humiliated in the eyes of the rest of the world, but it will be only a matter of time before Trump has started fights with the most dangerous people on earth.

Unfortunately, thanks to the Republicans, a large portion of the American population is poorly educated, living in the gunslinger days and infected with celebrity worship – a dangerous combination. This will impact on the western world to our detriment, so here’s hoping that common sense prevails in enough people to get the Democrats – which ever one it is – over the line and wipes the Republicans out of their Congress.

  3. Cruz’s dad believed god had selected Ted to win. Today Cruz blamed god for letting him down and siding with Satan. So glad that nutter has gone.
