Breaking: Singer Leonard Cohen has died

There has been some devastating news on social media this afternoon.

Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen as died, aged 82.

His management confirmed the news on his Facebook page within the last hour.

“It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away,” the post said.

“We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”

You might remember Cohen best for his haunting song Hallelujah, which has been covered multiple times by different artists over the years.

His other hits included songs such as Suzanne, Bird on the Wire and Tower of Song.

The Facebook post revealed that a memorial for the singer will be held in Los Angeles at a later date.

Cohen’s death comes just weeks after the release of his latest album You Want It Darker.

His death adds to the total of legendary singers we’ve lost this year including David Bowie, Prince and Bobby Vee.
