Yesterday afternoon, Tony Abbott released a video to mark 18 months since he was elected into government. The two minute video highlights his success as leader and his commitment to the Australian people.

In the video, Mr Abbott begins by saying every day the government is “working to clean up the mess we inherited and to lay the foundations needed for a stronger Australia”.

He continues, “We stopped the boats. We’ve scrapped the carbon and mining taxes, and we’ve started rolling out the biggest infrastructure plan in Australia’s history.

“We’ve signed three free trade agreements that will set up Australia for the long term.

“Our focus is on you – and your life – to make it easier and to give you more opportunity”. Do you believe that?

“In recent weeks, we’ve tackled issues that you raising with me and my colleagues. We’ve made decisions like stopping illegal foreign ownership of residential property, improving the standards for food labelling, giving greater support for small businesses with a new grocery code and demonstrating a tougher approach on hate preachers”.

He assured us that he’s listened to us by scrapping the Medicare co-payment and increasing the pay of members of the Australian defence force. He also talked about the Intergenerational Report and small businesses being the “engine room of our economy”. He finally wrapped up by assuring that he and his team would continue to strengthen national security to keep our country safe.

The PM’s closing words were, “This government is working in your interest and for the benefit of all Australians. We always have and we always will”.

  1. it was designed to keep him in as the prime minister, he has to justify his 18 months as prime minister. he has alienated the pensioners, the families , the uni students, gonski is gone so lower education is not a priority. medicare is still not safe. over all he has been very in effective

  2. he is in panic mode trying to say he is fixing up what someone else mess left them WELL this country is in a bigger mess than it was before you have a treasurer who is saying its the older generation fault by retiring but what did the government do with all our taxes SPEND SPEND SPEND & its not just this one they all did it so much for saving for a rainy day Abbott is worried he going to get chucked out

  3. “working to clean up the mess we inherited and to lay the foundations needed for a stronger Australia”.

    That’s what Tony says.
    The IMF tends to differ.

“The International Monetary Fund in April 2012, predicted that Australia would have the best performing major advance economy in the world over the next 2 years”
“It’s triple AAA rating by all three economic assessors is higher than the United States”
That so-called “Mess” earned the then treasure Wayne Swan “On 21 September 2011, Swan was named the World’s Best Finance Minister by Euromoney magazine”

The prime minister is still lying to us. Knowingly lying to us, & the deception is being perpetuated by the MSM.
    It’s disgraceful.

  4. It is saddening to have these pathetic claims. He has broken several promises that was touted by him to win the election. Now with his own party members wanting him out he has used taxpayers money to fund his own ‘trumpeting’ and propaganda to stay in power and blames Pension as ‘blow out’ for the dificit. We cannot afford him and his crony Hockey! They have tunnel vision and myopia!

  5. Oh, he’s ‘set us up’ with his trade agreements, and will do so further with that odious TPP he and Robb have kept under wraps…He’s ‘set us up’ to become an economic colony for US-based multinationals…He’s been a disaster as PM!

  6. I don’t believe a word of what this man says. He is a master of self promotion! His ‘achievements’ appear to be a lot of back pedalling on his policies and budget.

    • He sure is a master of self promotion, AND deception

  7. In our haste to judge the Prime Minister harshly have we all forgotten the dreadful mess the Labor Government was in? How much debt was inherited? Queensland has foolishly voted a Labor Government back in after Beattie and Bligh almost succeeded in wiping Queensland off the map. Seems to me no matter how we vote, we have to stop and think beyond ourselves and think about the country for a change.

    • Labor followed classic Keynsian economic policy during the GFC and saved thousands of jobs. THIS Abbott Govt has not one economic brain among them and can only blame others for the “problems”.

    • Jill Jillian, when you talk of the mess labour left did you take into consideration the disaster after disaster we went through, not to mention the global financial freefall we weathered very nicely. Yes, Labour did hand out money to stimulate the economy but, by doing that, we didn’t suffer like other countries did.

  8. Just More LIES, he does not know how to tell the truth.
He has managed to double the debt in the short time he has been in.
Then says it is all Labours fault?? We are not stupid ” Monk”
You have been forced to back flip by common sense from the people and the Senate so get back in your box and stop spending OUR money on these adverts.
Lets go to the polls now and see how people really think about you.

    • What a disgraceful lying Prime Minister he should be ashamed for this spin Get rid of him please before he and his cronies cause more damage to the country

  9. I do not believe a word Abbott says. He and his cronies are intent on imposing their outdated ideology on us all. The entire government stinks of corruption – from Abbott’s daughter’s ‘scholarship’ to the lies and machinations around the Peter Slipper and Craig Thompson affair that helped bring down a Labor government that was doing a good job. I can hardly wait until the next election to see the lot of them booted out!

  10. Yippee, only 18 months before we can kick him out.Lying scumbag that he is.Let’s hope he does no more damage before then.

    • 18 months in which time how much further damage will they cause??

  11. That message from the PM makes me wonder why world he is in or what substance is he on! His climate control policies are allowing things to get worse. His FTA’s will give most Aussies very little benefit. His cuts to education and science are dumbing us down. His efforts with our Indigenous people are an absolute disgrace with massive funding cuts and programs that further push assimilation. It is yet another example of how out of touch this govt is with most of the nation
