The things you find at every grandmother’s house: Is yours like this? 219

I remember my grandmother had this big cabinet filled with all her favourite china. We were never allowed to touch it but she always said she’d used them for a special occasion – she didn’t! The smell of her house was lavender with a hint of freshly cut grass, as she always had an impeccable lawn.

Here’s a list of things that every grandma seems to have in her house – do you own any of these things, or remember your own mother having?

    • I have a collection of doilies that my Nana and mum made and ones My dads mum made , she passed away when dad was 14. My dad, who passed away at 87 up till he went into care at 83 was still using their doilies, different ones out each week and he always washed, starched (reckitts) and ironed them, mum refused to iron them. They were his pride and joy. I don’t have time to be starching and ironing, but have kept them all for sentimental reason. I envy the crochet and needlework that is so beautifully done, I have a grand daughter who is 13 that I know will cherish having them one day, her mum already has some of them.
