The easy way to clean stained enamel cookware

Here is an easy method to not only save your pot but also save you time. You won’t have to soak it for hours or risk ruining the enamel with an abrasive scrub. You simply need one ingredient, which 99.9% probably already have sitting in your cupboard.

It works for practically all pots with carbonised food stains, such as those scorched from a batch of veggie soup left unattended or from burned-on onions.

Magic ingredient: bicarb soda

Method:

  1. Bring water to simmer in the pot.
  2. Add tablespoon of bicarb and stir with a wooden spoon.
  3. After a few minutes, use the wooden spoon (not metal on the enamel surface!) to scrape the burned-on bits.
  4. Pour baking soda and water down the drain and rinse the pot with hot water – all done!
