Something we’ve tried to cover up for years is now cool! 364

Grey hair is just inevitable in life and when we least expected it, a little grey hair appeared and then more and more followed. Some of us cover up the greys in vain, while others embrace the grey. But no matter what you do about your grey hair, nothing could have possibly prepared us for this: grey hair is now considered cool amongst the younger generation!

One would think that a 20-year-old with a full head of grey locks would be criticised or looked at oddly, but it appears that there’s a new trend that’s taking off and grey hair is actually very ‘in’.

The trend is affectionately known as ‘Granny hair’ and many models are dyeing their hair silver in order to look beautiful – who’d have thought!

This couldn’t be better news for us over 60s, male and female, and just goes to show that silver hair can look stylish and is no longer something to be hidden, but celebrated.

Some have criticised the new trend, though, and have said that it is insulting and makes a mockery of those who have hidden their greys for so long. We just think it’s great, if we’re honest!

Here’s some examples:

  1. I’ve had my hair turning grey since I was 12 years old and it’s never bothered me so seeing whatever age with it is no drama.

  2. Great. Nobody said it was insulting when we died our hair blond, black or red so why be insulted because the young want to be grey. Having blue and pink hair seems to be popular too.

  3. Actually looks nice with a young face. My 17 yr old granddaughter bleached her brunette hair and then dyed it a dark green. Looked nice but now it’s fading out and she has caramel blond with green streaks. I just laugh and give her her usual loving cuddle.

  4. love it, I am one of those who is allowing myself to grow grey gracefully and if the young ones like it then that’s their right. I don’t mind, but what I do not like is one of my children telling me to color it.

  5. It’d be nice if it looked like the models. Mine is pure white at the front and brown at the back.

  6. Fashions come and fashions go. When I was young bleached hair with silver (magic silver white) or pink rinses was all the go. AND bleached hair was ok but regrowth showing was a no no. Today regrowth showing is or has been fashionable.

      • Yo You can get shampoo and conditioner with the purple toner in it. It prevents yellowing, There is also a leave-in conditioner available. Check your local pharmacies. It can be difficult to find but is not expensive. Of course there are some available from hairdressers which are much more expensive.

  7. grey hair on a wrinkle free face not the same as grey hair on an older person.I will keep colouring mine!!!!!!
