Princess Mary takes the crown… again

We know it, you know it, and now the world knows it – our Aussie Princess, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is the best-dressed royal and it’s easy to see why.

Princess Mary took out the title of “most stylish young royal” ahead of nine others including Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

This is the second year the Australian-born princess has taken out the title, which is decided by a readers’ poll created by British celebrity magazine Hello!.

More than 30,000 readers from around the world vote to decide on their favourite. Almost a third (29 per cent) of readers had voted for the future Queen as best dressed according Danish publication The Local placing her above Queen Maxima, who was in second place.

It confirms what we, and husband Crown Prince Frederik, already know – Our Princess Mary is a stunning woman with a great sense of Aussie style.

The result isn’t surprising for fans of the Danish Princess, who is known for her fashion-forward style and making regular appearances on global fashion lists.

Princess Mary was also named the Danes’ most admired woman in a poll conducted in February.

Eyebrows were raised however when the Princess’ name was missing from Vanity Fair’s best-dressed list, which was released last week.

The Duchess of Cambridge appeared on the list along with other contenders included her aunt-in-law, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Queen Letizia of Spain and Princess Madeleine of Sweden. Arguably they are incredibly well turned out, and immaculately groomed. Every time we see any of them at a royal engagement they have clearly risen to the occasion and are keen to represent their nations with their best-foot forward.

Crown Princess Mary always looks lovely and is well known in Denmark as a hard working royal. She must surely feel the pressure of the world’s press scrutinising everything she wears and critics can be harsh as The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson discovered during her time with the royal family.

Well done Princess Mary, you’ve done us proud!
