This week, community member Robyn asked us for some advice,

“Ever since my husband passed away 3 years ago I have had to learn how to do repairs around the place as he always did all building, painting etc repairs. Does anybody know of a course that can be undertaken by seniors where we can learn how to do basic building repairs?”

Can you help Robyn? Do you know of any DIY courses? Tell us below.

Starts at 60 Writers

The Starts at 60 writers team seek out interesting topics and write them especially for you.

  1. A few years ago I enrolled and paid for a ladies’ handyman course at a nearby TAFE. It had to be cancelled (and refunded) due to lack of numbers. Have never seen anything similar since. Shame!

  2. Bunnings offer some great DIY workshops for all ages check out your nearest Bunnings store, you could even request a specific workshop.

  3. Enquire at your local community centre – sometimes they have those types of courses. Bunnings also. Internet probably has some – just google what you want to learn. Good luck, and good on you for giving it a go.

  4. Pick up a drill, hammer or screwdriver and have a go – you might surprise yourself

  5. I always look up YouTube .someone will have always posted a video of what ever I need to find out about.from cooking an egg to flying a plane.
    Or else just Google
