On this day in 1984, the $100 note was put into circulation in Australia. The paper had a portrait of Antarctic explorer Douglas Mawson on the front with a background of a mountain range with a geological strata format.
Astronomer John Tebbutt is on the reverse, with a background of the observatory he built and a local church.
There were 221,842,984 paper notes issued before its withdrawal.
Do you remember when you received your first $100 dollar bill? Or what you spent it on?
