Life hack: How to stop shower curtain mould

What should be one of the cleanest parts of the house is often the hardest to clean. And just why does the shower curtain always have mould on it?

It’s really a no-brainer when you think about it: mould loves warm, damp areas and bingo, your shower is one of them.

But it doesn’t have to be inevitable, in fact there are some clever ways to stop the dreaded mildew creeping up your lovely shower curtain.

Here are some tried and tested tips:
  • Run the fan or open a window while showering.
  • Keep the fan running for 20 minutes after you shower to rid the room of moisture.
  • Squeegee your shower after bathing to remove excess water.
  • Then either spray with chemical mould remover/cleaner or:
  • Soak the curtain in distilled vinegar and water and soak for an hour.

And if all else fails, most shower curtains are also machine washable so give it a spin cycle and then leave to dry in the sun.
