Life hack: How to fall asleep in one minute!

For those of us who have trouble sleeping at night, the promise of getting to sleep in under one minute seems too good to be true, but apparently, there’s a way of doing it.

It’s called the 4:7:8 breathing exercise and it will have you knocked out for a decent night’s sleep in one minute, says sleep doctor, Dr Weil.

So why not give it a go tonight? Here’s what you need to do:

Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound, then close your mouth and inhale quietly on the count of four. Then, hold your breath for seven seconds and exhale through your mouth for eight counts. Inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times.

You simply breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds and exhale through your mouth for eight seconds.

The logic is that your heart rate is slowed down and you’ll experience a slight light-headed sensation which contributes to the sedative-like effect.
