How to lighten those dark circles naturally

Dark circles refers to discolouration just below the eyes and has a number of contributing factors. Among them are lack of sleep, unhealthy diet, heredity and ageing. While they are not a serious medical skin problem, many women feel they look tired, unhealthy or older if they don’t try to get rid of them. If you are sick of piling on make up to try and cover your dark circles, try this tip to get rid of them naturally.

Here are three great options:

1. Tomato and lemon juice

Tomatoes have a bleaching property that can help lighten skin. Simply, mix one teaspoon of tomato juice with one-half teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply on the dark circles and let it sit for 10 minutes; rinse with water. For best results, use the natural remedy twice per day for a few weeks! Also, using just tomato juice will do the trick!

2. Raw Potato

Potatoes have natural bleaching agents present to help rid your eyes of dark circles. First you will need to grate two raw potatoes to extract the juice, then soak a cotton ball in the juice and place it over your eyelids. Allow the cotton balls to sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse your eyelids with cool water; repeat daily for a few weeks.

3. Cucumber slices

The classic treatment is to use cucumber slices. It is most often associated with salon treatments such as facials and massages and there is a reason for this. They reduce puffiness and refresh the skin around the eyes naturally. Simply cut off 2 thick slices of cucumber and place them in the fridge to cool down 30 minutes prior to using them. When sufficiently cold, place a slice over each eye, making sure that the slices cover the darkened area of skin. Doing this daily for 10 to 15 minutes while lying down will help reduce the dark circles under your eyes.
