9 ways to use your hairdryer you never realised

Do you have a hairdryer? This handy appliance is actually much more useful than first thought.

Hairdryers aren’t just great at drying your hair, they can also be useful around the house.

Here’s our 9 favourite ways to use it!

1. Quick-dry wet nails

Apply cool blow-dryer air over your freshly painted nails to set the polish faster. Make sure to use cool air because hot air won’t allow it to set.

2. Break in your new shoes

Put on a pair of thick socks and put on your too-tight shoes. Then, blast hot air from your hair dryer, and walk around in your shoes until the hot air cools. The heat will manipulate the shoe and the extra padding from the sock will stretch out the leather.

3. Remove stickers and price tags

All you need to do is put the hot air of a blow dryer on a sticker that won’t come off and it’ll peel straight away.

4. Custom fit cheap glasses

Custom fit your plastic frame glasses by simply heating up the ends and moulding them to fit your head.

5. Get candle wax off wood furniture

It can be a nightmare to get candle wax off any surface, let alone wood. The best way to remove it is to heat it back up. Blow medium heat on the wax until it starts to melt then wipe away with a cloth.

6. Hot compress

Keep a hot compress hot by pointing your blow dryer at the towel and leaving it running while you are putting the compress on an injury.

7. Dewrinkle shirt

Need a shirt dewrinkled quickly? Simply grab a hairdryer and a spray bottle of water. Spray onto the shirt then blow with hairdryer and smooth over with your hand.

8. Blow up air mattress

Don’t have a pump? Use your hairdryer on the lowest setting to fill it up with air in no time.

9. Get bandaid off easily

Just like the sticker tip, simply blast the band aid with hot air and it will peel off easily – no more ripped hairs!
