Meet Opal. This little domesticated bearded dragon is looking for a new home. Due to a new partnership between RSPCA Queensland and the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, the RSPCA has been granted appropriate licencing requirements to rehome certain reptiles. This means that now, reptiles like Opal have the opportunity to find a second chance through adoption that may not have been possible in the past.

Opal is only young and has a bit of growing to do. Picking the gender of juvenile reptiles is always tricky and it won’t be until Opal is an adult that sex can be determined. Bearded dragons love to climb so this domesticated reptile will need a secure enclosure with lots to do! They also love to bask in the sun and need to be offered UV lighting to ensure they remain healthy. Generally they prefer to be solitary in their enclosure. They can live for 7 to 12 years. Opal is a sweet dragon and doesn’t mind being handled either!
