8 of the most common dreams and what they mean

When we go to bed at night, we open ourselves up to our subconscious, and sometimes it can be a weird experience that leaves us feeling very confused when we wake up.

What did that mean when that happened? We can often think about a dream all day. But you don’t have to… here’s the top 8 dreams people have and what they mean.

1. Teeth falling out

This is one of the more common dreams and almost everyone will have dreamt of it at some stage. There are a range of meanings for losing your teeth in a dream, however one of the most popular theories is that because teeth are a symbol of power and confidence, it is supposedly a sign that you have lost confidence.

2. Going out in public naked

Most dream experts agree that this dream represents vulnerability and anxiety. Research reveals that this dream is common to people who have accepted a promotion, gone off to a new job, or who are coming into public view.

3. Dying

It can be very shocking to die in a dream, but it has a deeper meaning and is not an omen of an imminent real life demise. One interpretation is that it reveals the wish to terminate something in life: a relationship, a job, a career path, or even the past. Recurring dreams where you die can encourage you to embark on a new endeavour or fresh start.

4. Cheating partner

If you see your partner cheating in your dreams, you shouldn’t confront them in real life. It actually is a sign you’re feeling insecure and worried about your partner. It’s about a lack of trust – so take some time to talk to your partner about the feelings you have.

5. Flying

Flying is a pretty clear indicator that you need to let go of current issues and break free. It can also be a sign that there is an out of control situation in real life.

6. Falling

When you fall, you have no control and have nothing to hold on to, therefore in your waking life you might be lacking or losing control.

7. Sex

When you dream of sexual intercourse, it may represent unconscious desires, whether sexual or non-sexual. It can also symbolise creation of new relationships with others. But in many instances, sex dreams are simply just sexual expression.

8. Celebrities

To see a celebrity in your dream represents your adoration of them, however you should think about what that person is known for and how you relate to that quality. Sometimes seeing a famous person in your dream can mean your opinion of them has changed or they’ve fallen off a pedestal.
