Coconut oil may seem like a fad, but don’t dismiss it – some people see this humble oil as liquid gold, and rightly so – it has multiple benefits. Here are some of the best ways to use coconut oil every day.

1. Lighten age spots

Coconut oil comes packed with various antioxidants which help in fighting against age spots. Lighten age spots by rubbing coconut oil directly onto the skin daily.

2. Body scrub, hand scrub or foot scrub

Mix 2 parts coconut oil to one part Epsom salts as a DIY scrub, and rub onto areas of dry skin. It’s so relaxing and smells great. Be careful if you use this in the shower! The coconut oil may leave your tub a little slippery.

3. Remove makeup

Rub coconut oil into your skin and wipe off with a warm cloth to remove all traces of makeup.

4. Restore stuck zippers

Rub small amounts of coconut oil over them to ease them open.

5. Relieve a sore throat

Swallow a small dollop of coconut oil or add some to a herbal tea to stop the itching and soreness.

6. Wound salve

Coconut oil has been used for thousands of years to speed healing of rashes, burns, and open wounds. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of coconut oil help to keep the area free of infection, and the lauric acid in coconut oil helps to speed healing.

7. Nail cuticle oil

Apply coconut oil to your finger beds to reduce the risk of developing fungal infections and to make it easier to push back cuticles so your nails can naturally grow more quickly.

  1. Yes I buy a root of turmeric and ginger and grate. Then I add to the coconut oil and mix through. I take a normal coffee or tea mug and add one dessertspoon of the mixture to warm water to dissolve. It is pleasant tasting and feels therapeutic. Apparently this makes it antioxidant and
ante inflammatory – great for our body.

  2. I have found that since taking a spoonful of coconut oil in my tea every day the dry skin on my legs and feet has gone!!

    • Thanks for this! I never remember/take time to moisturize my legs so they are DRY 😕. I’m going to add some to my morning coffee every day. Take care & God Bless you.

  3. I forgot to mention that my husband puts some in his cereal every morning. He has noticed that when he does NOT have coconut oil, he experiences more arthritis discomfort.

  4. Before I go to the gym to do laps in the pool, I put coconut oil all over my hair before I pin it up into a tidy bun. The oil keeps my hair from being fried by the chlorine!
