23 ways you should be using coconut oil!

This morning while at coffee with some friends we were discussing all of the different ways we use coconut oil. I’ve used it for a few different things – moisturiser, cooking, a healthy alternative to butter and have even used it as a cuticle cream but some of my friends had countless ways to use it that are really helpful!

So I got my iPad out and started typing… Here are some of the amazing ways you can use coconut oil! For just $8.00 a jar it’s definitely worth having some on hand all the time!

Coffee creamer – blend into hot coffee instead of milk.

  1. Moisturiser – rub into skin.
  2. Lip balm – rub over lips, add essential oils if desired.
  3. Eye makeup remover – gently wipe away eye makeup by dabbing a tissue in coconut oil and wiping.
  4. Natural SPF 4 sunscreen.
  5. Homemade mayonaise by mixing it with four egg yolks, lemon juice, dijon mustard, salt and pepper and olive oil.
  6. To lighten age spots (just rub directly onto skin) .
  7. To prevent and reduce the visibility of stretch marks.
  8. To treat dandruff – just massage it into the scalp and rinse well.
  9. Topically to kill yeast infections.
  10. Mix with coffee grounds or brown sugar for a great body scrub (you can also give this as a gift in a cute mason jar too!).
  11. Intensive hair conditioning mask – rub into your hair, wrap in a towel and leave for a few hours before rinsing out.
  12. To soothe skin irritation.
  13. Rub coconut oil on the inside of your nose to help alleviate allergy symptoms.
  14. Give yourself an energy boost by mixing a tablespoon of coconut oil and a table spoon of chia seeds and eating.
  15. Mix a tablespoon with a tablespoon of chia seeds for an all-day energy boost (do NOT take this at night!)
  16. Blend a tablespoon into hot tea to help speed recovery from cold or flu and to alleviate a sore throat mix with hot water and drink.
  17. As a natural shave cream and after shave lotion.
  18. Season your cast iron skillets using coconut oil.
  19. Rub into areas with arthritis to relieve pain and inflammation.
  20. Reduce the itch of mosquito bites by rubbing on to the affected area.
  21. A small amount can be rubbed into real leather to soften and condition (shiny leather only… test a small area first)
  22. Remove dry skin on your feet by mixing it with coarse sea salt and rubbing.
  23. Rub into cuticles as a cuticle cream.
