Wear your uniform!

Lieutenant-General Smythe faced court martial. Military Police had arrested him when he was found chasing a beautiful young woman through the halls of an upmarket hotel. Neither of them was wearing a stitch of clothing. The main charge levelled at the General was “being out of uniform”.

His lawyer, Major Allott, was a bright young barrister in civvy street. The defence case he presented was that the General was not out of uniform. He argued that Her Majesty’s Rules and Regulations clearly read that “…an Army officer must be at all times appropriately attired for the activity in which he is engaged”.

Lieutenant-General Smythe was acquitted.
