This song was no ‘Tragedy’ on the charts!

It may be about a break up but the song “Tragedy” is one of the Bee Gees most popular and successful.

Written by the three brothers, and included on the 1979 album ‘Spirits Having Flown’, the single soared to the top of the charts today in 1979.

As legend has it, Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb wrote this song and “Too Much Heaven” in an afternoon off from making the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band movie. How’s that for talent!?

Another break-up song, “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor was knocked off the top spot by “Tragedy”, though went back to number one after a week. The song marks the fifth of six consecutive number ones for the band of brothers.
