The 1961 Bobby Lewis track that started the dance craze

This song was written by Ritchie Adams and Malou Rene but was recorded by Bobby Lewis in 1961 and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks, making it the number-one single of 1961. It was one of the few songs from this decade to hold the number one position on the charts for so many consecutive weeks.

The song has been described to have literally started the birth of the novelty dance craze. Unfortunately, it has been overshadowed by ‘The Twist’ and other dance songs but this song still has a very special place in music history.

The song has given Bobby a long career and has since become a must-have on any oldies compilation.
