Elton John and Kiki Dee’s smash hit 1976 duet

This song became one of the great duets of all time, and today in 1976 it reached the top of the charts.

Written by Elton John with Bernie Taupin under the pseudonyms “Ann Orson” and “Carte Blanche” (a pun on the expression “an horse and cart, blanche”), it received the 1981 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

It was the first No. 1 single in the UK for both John and Kiki Dee, and topped the chart for six weeks. Elton John would not enjoy another British chart-topper until “Sacrifice” in 1990.

In 1977, Elton John guest starred on The Muppet Show and performed the track with Miss Piggy. And in June 2013, 37 years after its original release, the single reached one million sales in the UK.

Just two years ago, in 2013 and 37 years after its original release, the single reached one million sales in the UK. Can you guess what song it is?

Here is a clue:

Don’t go breaking my heart,
I couldn’t if I tried.
Oh honey if I get restless…
Baby you’re not that kind
