Alcoholic ode goes all the way to the top in 1979 AND 1980!

Today in 1979, this memorable party favourite hit almost missed out on being included in the top songs of that year.

It immediately became a popular song but sales were slow due to the actual title going unnoticed. Its repeated mention of a certain type of cocktail meant the artist had to retitle it to avoid confusion, something he was not happy about.

The lyrics speak of a bored man who sees an ad about a woman who is looking for a man. He writes back and finds out that the woman is actually his wife!

This song also has the unique privilege of being the only song in US history to have the number one position in two decades (December 1979 and January 1980).

It may be a one-hit wonder for this artist but it is still fun to listen to today.
