Watch Celine Dion’s beautiful tribute to her dying husband

Celine Dion has had a very rough year – but she has found a stunningly beautiful way to work through her pain.

With Rene Angelil, her husband of 20 years, stricken with cancer, the legendary singer has taken an entire year away from show business to focus on her family.

Now she’s finally back from hiatus, returning to her popular Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace. But she carries her love for her husband with her.

Celine, always a woman to wear her heart on her sleeve, opened up the audience about the beautiful friendship with her soulmate. An audience member captured the heartfelt introduction on video.

Celine then broke into a stunning rendition of The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face as family photos and movies appeared on-screen.

Rene, 26 years her senior, has been a part of Celine’s life for a long, long time. He originally started out as her manager when she was just 12. Decades later, their lifelong business partnership transformed into something more.

“I hope that by now you have got the message that tonight’s show is very, very personal to me”, she said to the crowd.

While she put on a brave face to the audience, a prior interview with USA Today revealed her reservations about returning to the stage.

“That first show, it will be fragile,” she said.

“There will be moments. Of emptiness, laughter, awkwardness, tearing up. But that’s the point of coming back”.

She said it had been very difficult for Rene not to be directly involved with her career after so many decades of being so directly involved.

“But he wants me to do this, do the show, do the interviews. But he freaks when I’m not home with him, too”.

“I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities”.

“All my grieving, it was during this last year. I think I’ve got this. For now. When it hits me, it’s going to hit me. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot”.

How does this video make you feel? Are you as moved to tears as we are?
