They’ve done it again: the interesting new discovery that will fascinate you

Just when you think you’d seen it all, science makes a new discovery:

A new species of dinosaur has be discovered in Argentina, which is a massive breakthrough in palaeontology. The Dreadnoughtus schrani dinosaur may be one of the most complete skeletons ever found.

Amazingly, this particular creature was thought to have weighed around 59.3 tonnes and may have been up to 26m long. This latest discovery further shows how prevalent these Titanosaurian sauropod dinosaurs were in southern continents, over 66-100 million years ago. It’s mindblowing to think that once upon a time our Earth was roamed by enormous monsters, one of whom we are just learning about now. Previous to finding this half-complete South American fossil, palaeontologists and prehistorians knew very little about these giant titanosaurs – all other skeletons have been mostly incomplete, until now. Major skeletal regions are now accounted for and now we can know more about these fascinating creatures.

Even more incredibly, the bones of the Dreadnoughtus continued to grow after death.

Dinosaurs are still an anomaly in science and hundreds of years of historic findings still have gaps, so who knows? We might find another dinosaur again soon!
