Robin Williams’s wife says there was ‘a terrorist’ living inside him 2

The wife of late actor Robin Williams has detailed his declining health and frustration at his disease prior to his death in an emotional letter published in medical journal Neurology.

Susan Schneider titled the letter ‘The Terrorist Inside My Husband’s Brain’ and said Robin was struggling to deal with his debilitating symptoms.

“It felt like he was drowning in his symptoms, and I was drowning along with him,” she said.

“He hated that he could not find the words he wanted in conversations. He would thrash at night and still had terrible insomnia.

“At times, he would find himself stuck in a frozen stance, unable to move, and frustrated when he came out of it.

Robin was initially incorrectly diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, but it was later revealed he had been suffering from a rare form of dementia called Lewy Body Dementia.

The loss of memory and inability to control his body was incredibly hard for Robin, whose life’s work revolved around his sharp mind and physical comedy.

Susan also touched on their last night together.

“When we retired for sleep, in our customary way, my husband said to me, ‘Goodnight, my love,’ and waited for my familiar reply: ‘Goodnight, my love.’

“His words still echo through my heart today.”

Sadly, Robin took his life the next day leaving behind Susan and his three children Zelda, Zachary and Cody.

Do you know anyone who has dealt with dementia? Are you a fan of Robin’s?

    • My mother had bi-polar which is nasty and changes their personality. Then dementia came on top of that, for a few years it was torture until dementia became the more dominant problem. Ironically she was then easier to deal with. It is nasty for everyone around
