Paul Simon blasts much younger artists out of the charts

If you needed any proof of the power of the older generations in the music industry, this is it!

Paul Simon is enjoying his tenth week in a row at the top echelons of the Billboard charts for Best Album, one of few veteran artists to have enjoyed a forty year career at the top.  His album has this week returned to the highest spot for a veteran artist into position number three ahead of fellow veteran James Taylor and up from position number 12 last week.

Paul Simon began, as we all know as one half of Simon & Garfunkel which began back in 1964, where he is famous for writing nearly all of the pair’s songs, most particularly the three that reached number one in the US, “The Sound of Silence“, “Mrs. Robinson“, and “Bridge Over Troubled Water“.  The pair broke up in 1970 at their peak, and Simon kicked off his career as a solo artist from which this album, The Ultimate Collection is drawn.
