Maggie Gyllenhaal: too old to be hot for 55 year old man?

In a classic demonstration of ageism, Maggie Gylenhaal has revealed that she was recently turned down for a role in a movie because she, at 37 years old, is apparently not hot enough to play the love interest of a 55 year old man.  And it got us thinking… What exactly do 55 year old men look for in their younger love interests?

We thought we would throw it out to you today for a giggle and a chat!  After all, for many of you, 55 was only five years ago and is a very recent memory.

Maggie Gylenhaal is an Oscar nominee, and a likely Emmy nominees too, most recently involved in the Sundance ministeries “The Honorable Woman” for  which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film, but you will also know her for a string of hit movies, and potentially her hot body too   (And her hot brother Jake).

Films like Trust the Man, Stranger than Fiction, Monster House, World Trade Center, and Sherrybaby have been her career.  And with her awards only recently achieved there should be no better time for the actress to be picking  up awesome roles.

“It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh,” the actress told TheWrap

Every time we think things are getting better for women in Hollywood, something comes along to remind us — naaah.

“There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time,” she said during an interview for a TheWrap Magazine. “I’m 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”
